Geeta Gopalakrishnan: Regardless of what field a leader is in, he or she will rise to greatness if they carry people with them

With over 20 years of experience in advertising, as Creative Director at Trikaya Grey, she has been recipient of many creative awards across product categories .

Throughout her professional , she has worked for Sadhana School for Special Children in Mumbai as a labour of love.

For the past 8 years, she has also devoted herself fulltime to use the power of advertising in order to raise the bar in fundraising for the treatment of underprivileged children with cancer at Tata Medical Center and now has her own Trust, Ma Foundation.

Her book ‘My Grandmother’s Tweets’ is a labour of love. All royalties from the sales will go towards children with cancer at Tata Medical Center.

1. Why Ma Foundation?
India has “Sanskaar” ..of generosity and giving Individuals and NGOs address every aspect of human suffering At Ma Foundation we wish to wipe mothers’ tears at the bottom of the economic pyramid..be it nutrition or health or education. Did you know that in Buxar mothers during the pandemic, were so hungry that they plucked and ate grass and any plant they could find. So much needs to be done! And what we setting out to do is a drop in the ocean..but every drop counts!

2. What is your take on leadership?
Regardless of what field a leader is in, he or she will rise to greatness if they carry people with them. To my mind, a great leader is one who apart from extracting efficiency, wins the hearts of people and harnesses this energy into taking the business into a new realm.

3. While talking of leadership, what is the difference between leaders of today and the past?
Personally, I feel leaders of the past were inspirational for their relationship with their people was not transactional. Important aspects like empathy and caring are far less today as compared to the past.

4. What is Branding?
Whatever in a flash-through image or word expresses the product or service epitomizes branding.

5.What is the difference between Brand and Business?
They are interrelated

6. What is your message for young entrepreneurs and especially woman entrepreneurs?
Women and emotions are synonymous. Women have the advantage of natural sensitivity and empathy and combined with efficiency and attention to detail will excel…..regardless of the field.
